Fire drill

Today in class we had a fire drill at the beginning of class. After the fire drill we told Mr. Schick what we were doing for our project and we spent the remainder of class talking about the project.

Baltimore riots

Today we spent the class talking about the riots in Baltimore. We discussed the crimes that occurred and how these actions made us think about the whole situation

Roman architecture

Today in class Mr. Schick had us find information on Roman Architecture. We took notes on the Colosseum, circus maxims, the roman forums, and the aqueducts. After we took notes on these things and we later discussed them towards the end of class. After I said a fact that I found online Mr. Schick talk about websites that are good to use for information.

Project

Today in class we spent the mod talking about our projects. Mr. Schick showed us what we could do for our projects.Kelsey joined my group and we talked about doing either a Roman senate or a Roman bath. We have three weeks until our project is due. I feel like my group is going to do a good projects.

Chi Cago

Today in class we talked about the government in Rome. The people had two houses, the senate(aristocrats) and the assembly (plebeians). Rome had two consuls who split power in government, they had two to make sure no one was more powerful. They had pro-consuls who were like the district governors. the last monarch of Rome was Tarquin the proud. Rees publica- Latin for the peoples business. after we finished talking, there was a phone call and the person said that  we had a special visitor. after this Mr. Schick left the room and walked back in, pretending to be someone else. Then he called himself Chi Cago and rapped about Rome and its government.

Rome and the incredibles

Today we started class by comparing Ryan's hair with the villain in the movie the incredibles. After talking about Ryan's, we talked about Rome's military tactics. The Romans improved on the Greeks' military tactics and were able to make their army more nimble and effective. The Romans were able to move faster than the Greek's phalanx. When Rome conquered  land they didn't enslave or kill any of the concurred people. Instead they made the people become roman citizens and made the land Rome's. The conquered people had all rights that Romans had. The Non-Romans in Italy wanted to become Roman citizens. The We talked about the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage.

Rome

Today in class we got our Greece papers back and Mr. Schick talked about mistakes that everyone made on the papers. I got a 93 on the paper, I think my group had a great grade for this paper. After talking about our papers we started taking note on Rome. We talked about the people you first settled in Rome called the Indo-europeans. We discussed how Romes government was and how the government was taken over around the same that Greece was taken over. We then talked about the mythology in Rome and how it mainly was based of of Greek mythology.

Roman Aqueducts

Today in class Mr. Schick told us that we are going to have another project of our own choosing . We had the choices of making a video, making a structure or armor, or making a power point. My partner for this project is Jake and we decided to make a clay aqueduct for our project. We talked about how we were going to make it.

The Allegory of the cave

Today we finished watching the animated version of The allegory of the cave in class. After we finished Mr. Schick said that a lot people relate The allegory of the cave to modern day social problems. Mr. Schick asked us about what we thought about the video and after talked about it and its concepts we talked about how it relates to gay marriage. We then talked about our opinions on same sex marriage and have it relates to other social problems.

Rob Lowe

Today in class we were talking about Rob lowe and his direct tv commercials then Mr. Schick told us that he worked with Rob Lowe on a tv show The west wing. After we talked about that, we started talking about movies that Mr. Schick helped produce. We talked about this subject for a while and ended class by watching an animated video on the allegory of the cave.

Test review

Today in class we went over the Greek test by going around the class and answering the questions one by one. Near the end of the questions Mr. Schick talked about a king who stabbed both of his eyes out because he married his mother. As we went over the test I wrote down the answers next to the questions to use as a way to study for the exam.

Ancient Greece test

Today we took the test on Ancient Greece. I think I knew most of the content, but some of the questions on the test were confusing such as the ones about the dates of events that happened. I think that I got a good grade on the test because I understood most of the questions. We do not have to blog over spring break, so we get a break from doing homework which is nice. I received a 94% on the Ancient Greece test
