More Questions and Terms

Who was King Hammurabi, and why was he important? He was the King of Babylon who created a series of laws known as “Hammurabi’s Code” 

Define these terms:
  • prehistory- the time in history before written records
  • Paleolithic Age- the stone age where no tools were used and humans had two jobs, hunter and gather
  • Neolithic Age- The new stone age where people made tools, weapons, and ways to plant their own food. Since these things were made they had people who were good at doing these things do them as jobs starting a job system.
  • Agricultural Revolution-The shift from hunting and gathering to centering on agriculture and permanent settlements
  • cuneiform- The earliest form of writing invented by the Sumerians 
  • ziggurat-was a Sumerian temple built on top of a “mountain” of earth
  • Indo-Europeans-people from the grasslands of the Russian steppe who introduced the horse to the Near East.
