Geography
-Egyptian life is centered around the Nile river.
-Flows from south to north
-Starts with melting snow and lake water from central African mountains , and ends at the Mediterranean sea.
- The Nile is the biggest river in the world
*Water is essential
-Drinking
-Bathing
-Irrigating
-Transportation
- Sail boats are used to go down stream.
-Every July the Nile floods
-Every October it leaves behind rich soil/silt
-The Nile ends a delta; a broad marshy, triangular area of fertile silt
-Managing the river required technological breakthroughs in irrigation
Pyramids
-The Great Sphinx of Giza
-Built 2555-2532 BC
-4547 years old
-The Sphinx is a recumbent lion with a human's head
-It is the oldest monumental statue in the world
